Habitation & Co is more than a security company. In a male-dominated industry, we have established the GBV academy which trains and equips woman in the security industry.

Two imageries have inspired our vision for this initiative. First, is the sight of a woman standing in a long queue at PSIRA offices waiting to get her documents approved to later struggle to find employment in a male-dominated industry. Secondly is the imagery of a woman who is constantly abused but is unable to defend herself from the fists of her companion.

This academy seeks to be a solution to both problematic imageries. Firstly create a database of the unemployed women in the security industry and be the first to offer opportunities for employment within Habitation & Co and partnered security companies. Secondly, train woman in diverse communities to get the necessary training to be able to safeguard themselves against any threats on-site as well as gender-based violence that may occur on-site as well as in their communities.

These women then become coaches training younger females in their communities to safeguard themselves. This creates a safe community cycle.
